This a offroad, unofficial, completely self-supported bikepacking group ride in the spirit the underground 'Tour divide' style and under the same rules. No registration, no support, no insurance, no prizes - those who choose to simply meet up for an informal group ride along a plotted route on public trails open to all at a suggest a time.. You show up and ride at your own risk. The Cowichan Valley Nightmare is a ferry to ferry bike ride through the night mostly along the Cowichan Valley Trail. 203km of distance with 1744m elevation on primarily gravel. The clock starts when the Ferry lets us off and ends at the ticket booth for the ferry in Swartz Bay.
Safety vests and flashing lights STRONGLY recommended as the first part of the ride is on the road. The rest of the ride is primarily rail trail and bike path. The route is about 30% paved & the rest is Gravel.
Bear Spray is also recommended.
No official tracker, but riders are encouraged to record their ride to verify their time.
